But then we wouldn't get the photo. Why can't people just either write the story in the comments, or post the original and their dumb story?

Because the point with captions is for the story to be included with the image. Having to go all the way to the booru or having a weird text file archive isn't practical for shorter stuff like this. The original images are usually uploaded, but not this time.
most people uploading these aren't the people making the captions either. Hell most artists on this site don't really upload their own stuff with a few exceptions.

Not that you can't take the image into an editor to get the image on its own, which you can then reverse search to try finding the original. Tho I think I had to upscale this to get it in better quality.

Idc, just don't post the stories. It adds, quite literally, nothing. It ruins the photos if anything.
